Live Bait Theatre is a professional theatre company located in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada.
Live Bait Theatre, based in Sackville, New Brunswick,
is committed to enhancing the cultural life of the central Maritime region
by providing entertaining and innovative professional theatre as well
as a variety of other live performances including dinner theatre, comedy
and live music.
Live Bait Theatre was founded and incorporated as a registered non-profit
charitable organization in May of 1988. Although initially offering only
a summer season, the company has been expanding into the winter months
since taking over its own space in 2004.
The company has produced forty-five mainstage shows. Thirty-one of these
were Canadian scripts. Twelve were developed and/or premiered at Live Bait
including Jan Kudelka's American Demon, Pete Soucy’s Flux,
Mark Blagrave’s We Happy Few, Geoff McBride’s Quit,
Jenny Munday’s Relatively Harmless and Charlie Rhindress' The
Maritime Way of Life, which was nominated as best new play at the
Canadian Comedy Awards.

ARTISTIC MISSION STATEMENT
Live Bait Theatre aims to tell entertaining, thought-provoking stories
with an emphasis on new Canadian scripts and plays that are new to the
central Maritime region.
HISTORY
Live Bait Theatre was founded and incorporated as a registered non-profit
charitable organization in May of 1988. Although initially offering only
a summer season, the company has expanded into year round programming since
moving into a permanent space in downtown Sackville in 2004.
The company has produced forty-nine mainstage shows. Thirty-four of these
were Canadian scripts. Fourteen were developed and/or premiered at Live Bait
including Jan Kudelka’s American Demon, Pete Soucy’s Flux,
Mark Blagrave’s We Happy Few, Geoff McBride’s Quit, Jenny Munday’s Relatively Harmless and Charlie Rhindress’ The Maritime
Way of Life,
which was nominated
as best new play at the Canadian Comedy Awards. Most recently we have premiered
Charlie Rhindress’ The Heart That Knows, Don Hannah’s There
is a Land of Pure Delight and The Adventures of Donna Earla by
Mary Ellen MacLean.
Live
Bait is committed to contributing to the canon of Canadian theatre by nurturing
new plays and visionary artists. Live Bait Theatre is a registered non-profit
charitable organization that operates under the guidelines and rules of the
Independent Theatre Agreement
of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.
